About Us
Two People. One Island. A Journey Built Together.
“Kissing under the mistletoe is a classic holiday tradition where two people stand beneath a sprig of the green plant and share a kiss. Rooted in ancient mythology and popularized by the Victorians, the custom dictates that a kiss brings good luck, love, and goodwill to the couple.”
Hi, we are Sisitha Hewage and Lucia Kubickova. We come from Sri Lanka and Slovakia two very different parts of the world but our paths crossed in 2022 through a global youth organisation called AIESEC. What started as a shared experience quickly grew into a shared life, shaped by curiosity, travel and a constant desire to understand the world beyond borders.
Over the years, we have been fortunate to live, volunteer and work across multiple countries. Sisitha has lived in Prague, Montreal, Stockholm and Bonn, working with organisations including AIESEC, Electrolux Group and DHL Group. Lucia has lived in Slovakia, Portugal, Sri Lanka, Montreal and Brussels, and has also been part of AIESEC and the DHL Group. But beyond roles, titles and countries, what truly connects us is a shared mindset: we are both builders at heart.
That is how SL Journeys was born. SL stands not only for Sri Lanka, the country we deeply love, but also for the initials of Sisitha and Lucia two stories coming together into one shared vision. Through SL Journeys, we design experiences that go beyond sightseeing: journeys that connect travellers to people, to places and to moments that stay with them long after they leave. At the same time, we support local communities and small businesses who are often the true heartbeat of every destination. We are not trying to scale fast or become something distant. We are building this step by step, with intention, honesty and a lot of learning along the way. If you’re here, you’re already part of that journey.

Our Values
These are not a marketing checklist. They are the operating principles that shape how we plan journeys, choose partners and communicate with every traveller and every team member holds themselves accountable to them.
Authentic Local Connections
We build relationships with local guides, family run guesthouses and community experience providers who give travellers genuine access to Sri Lankan life rather than a performance designed for outside observers.
Personalised Attention to Detail
We ask the questions other operators skip dietary preferences, walking tolerance, genuine interests and accommodation atmosphere then use those answers to shape the actual itinerary, not just a welcome note.
Honesty and Transparency
Our pricing is complete and explained. When we recommend a specific hotel or experience we explain exactly why it fits. When something is not worth the money, we say so.
Authentic Local Connections
We build relationships with local guides, family run guesthouses and community experience providers who give travellers genuine access to Sri Lankan life rather than a performance designed for outside observers.
Passion for Meaningful Travel
The journeys we care about most are the ones where a traveller returns having genuinely understood something new about Sri Lanka its history, biodiversity, food culture or the daily reality of communities they passed through.
Commitment to Quality
Quality means vehicles that arrive on time, accommodation that matches the description and guides who know their subject, speak clearly and adapt to the group in front of them. We inspect and update our assessments regularly.
