The Demodara Loop on the Kandy-Badulla line is considered one of the great feats of mountain railway construction – the train circles below itself through a tunnel to gain altitude. The Nanu Oya to Ella segment through tea-ridge mist is the most visually spectacular, best experienced with the window open from a right-hand seat heading south.
